RELIGIUSITAS TAREKAT SEBAGAI SUATU PENDEKATAN KESHALEHAN

Religiosity is an awareness of practicing religion holistically, which serves as the main spiritual motivation of followers of a ṭarīqa (Sufi order). Knowledge of the aspects of the ṭarīqa is closely related to the development of religious awareness, which is understood as a manifestation of piety. Piety within the ṭarīqa is regarded as the primary aspiration for attaining salvation from God and the Prophet. Historically, ṭarīqa have also occupied a distinctive position in promoting iḥsān as a model of pious practice in Aceh. This paper seeks to examine how ṭarīqa-based religiosity along the northern coast of Aceh continues to attract followers to this day. The topic is relevant to socio-religious studies, particularly in revealing the functions that activate and sustain ṭarīqa religiosity. This qualitative study employs a case study approach. The main research sites include Abu Kuta Krueng, Mudi Mesra, Samalanga, Tu Sop, Abu Bate Lhee, and Abu Karimuddin in Panton Labu. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and participant involvement, with the primary data sources being ṭarīqa leaders at the research locations. The field findings indicate that key aspects of the ṭarīqa include discipline in performing prayers and dhikr, ṭarīqa doctrines of religiosity, the role of spiritual guides, and a strong focus on piety. From a psychological perspective, these findings are relevant in enhancing awareness of religious beliefs and practices.
