Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of understanding of lecturers regarding learning strategies and techniques. Lecturers do not deliver learning in accordance with the strategic steps used in the learning process. Lecturers deliver material too quickly. Lack of student activity in learning. Students are less focused on paying attention to the material delivered by the lecturer. Lack of student motivation in learning. To overcome these obstacles, an active, good, appropriate and correct learning strategy is needed. One active learning strategy is Guided Note Taking where a lecturer prepares handouts or sheets and instructs students to take notes while the lecturer is teaching. This study aims to determine the planning, implementation, and obstacles in the use of the Guided Note Taking strategy in English subjects, namely the planning of the Guided Note Taking Strategy, the steps of the Guided Note Taking strategy, the implementation of learning in the implementation of the Guided Note Taking strategy in English subjects, the application of the Guided Note Taking strategy, namely lecturers have difficulty in making teaching materials, lecturers have difficulty motivating students to be interested in learning Islamic Religious Education, insufficient time allocation and so on. Therefore, lecturers can improve the quality of learning that is adjusted to the steps of the strategy used during learning and adjust to the learning objectives, lecturers must also know the characteristics of students and learning conditions.
