JEJAK ISLAM NUSANTARA DI PESISIR TUBAN: PERAN PELABUHAN KAMBANG PUTIH DALAM PEMBENTUKAN PERADABAN LOKAL
Abstract
This study aims to examine the historical traces of Nusantara Islam in the coastal area of Tuban and to analyze the role of Kambang Putih Port in the formation of local civilization. This study is important because the port functioned not only as a center of trade but also as a space for social, cultural, and religious interaction that contributed to the spread of Islam in the Indonesian archipelago. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through field observation at the Kambang Putih Museum in Tuban, documentation study of historical artifacts, and a review of relevant literature. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that Kambang Putih Port played a strategic role in the maritime trade network and became an important gateway for the arrival and development of Islam in the coastal area of Tuban. The interaction between Muslim traders and the local community in the port area encouraged the peaceful spread of Islam through social relations, trading activities, and cultural approaches. This process later shaped a pattern of community life that reflects the characteristics of Nusantara Islam, which is moderate and adaptive to local culture. The study recommends strengthening local historical studies through broader research and the use of more diverse historical sources in order to develop a more comprehensive understanding of the role of ports in the spread of Islam in the Indonesian archipelago.
